Colorado requires all drivers to carry minimum liability insurance of $25,000 per person for bodily injury, $50,000 per accident for bodily injury to all persons, and $15,000 per accident for property damage (25/50/15). These minimums are often insufficient to cover serious injuries—a single surgery can easily exceed $25,000. Colorado does not require uninsured/underinsured motorist (UM/UIM) coverage, but insurers must offer it. Given the number of underinsured drivers on Colorado roads, carrying higher liability limits and robust UM/UIM coverage is strongly recommended.
